<p>People in general like to have a slim and trim appearance. Slender legs are an extra attraction because they can lend elegant and sophisticated look to an individual. That is why many men and women are known to hanker after long, lean legs.</p>
<p><strong>Potential problems posed by fat legs -</strong></p>
<p>Squat, stubby legs with bulky thighs can be pretty unsightly. Women having heavy legs are likely to be reluctant to wear bikinis or fashionable short dresses even though they cherish an intense desire to do so. Men too may suffer from a similar disinclination; they may not be keen to expose their plump legs by donning a pair of shorts despite the shorts being extremely comfortable to wear.</p>
<p>While one disadvantage of fat legs is their unattractive appearance, another graver one is that they could be indicators of excess, unhealthy body fat. As many people are aware, it has been established that body fat poses many health hazards including risk of heart disease and diabetes. Fat legs can be very uncomfortable too. Walking, sitting and climbing actions could become quite awkward for people possessing unwieldy legs.</p>
<p><strong>Exercises that can burn away leg fat –</strong></p>
<p>Typically leg fat is concentrated in the inner and outer thigh areas. When someone wants to lose fat in the legs, evidently they have to focus on those areas the most. However, leg muscle training usually forms a part of the fat reduction routine planned for the entire body.</p>

<li><strong>Squats</strong> are exercises that stretch and work leg muscles, and help to <a href="http://bellyfatguide.blogspot.com/">burn fat</a> in the thigh, hamstring, buttocks and hip areas. They can also be done with weights if a person wants to use up more calories. Squat involves sitting or crouching till the hip joint is in a straight line with the knees. When the hip joint is at a lower point, it becomes a deep squat.</li>
<li><strong>Lunge</strong> involves bending one knee and stretching the other leg as if the person is springing out to get at something. By keeping the torso straight or by twisting it and by using weights, people can bring variations in lunges.</li>
<li><strong>Step-Ups</strong> are meant for the entire leg. To perform a step up, a person will need a sturdy stool or bench for a step. To determine the right step height, he can place a foot on the step and check to see that the knee to thigh line is straight. This exercise involves putting one foot on the step and touching it by bringing the other foot up. This is done several times, alternating the legs. By stretching each leg front or to the side or by raising it, a person can bring variations to step-ups.</li>

<li><strong>Food -</strong>A fat loss regimen, including leg fat loss becomes more effective, when it is combined with the right food. Individuals should choose items that are loaded with fiber and nutrients such as whole grains, vegetables, greens, fresh fruits, nuts, seeds, oils like olive or sunflower oil, low fat dairy, and so on. They should abstain from processed foods and trans-fats, if they plan to stay healthy and lose fat steadily.  Drinking lots of water all day and imbibing a few cups of green tea are ideal ways to shake off more fat.</li>
<li><strong>Yoga –</strong>Yoga is a holistic approach to health and has many different poses that can target leg fat.</li>
<li><strong>Staying active –</strong>By moving over to an active lifestyle from a sedentary one, a person can stabilize the body’s metabolism which is crucial in keeping excess fat at bay. Folks can keep their blood circulation and oxygen intake healthy by moving around every now and then, at least for a few minutes.</li>
